Love being back in Barcelona again. It is one of my favorite cities to visit. This morning Charlie and I decided to stay on board and rest up for tonite. It turned out that we made a good decision as today is a national holiday and La Rambla was wall to wall people!
This afternoon we took a taxi up to Montjuic (Jewish Mountain) and spend some time wandering around the Poble Espanyol, a recreated Spanish village with a collection of scaled down famous buildings and streets from around Spain.
Stop for beer and sangria
We have reservations at El Tablao de Carmen for Tapas and a Flamenco Show.
El Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya, one of the most important figures in the history of Flamenco, who with her dancing, passion, ability and charm elevated the mythology of Flamenco to its highest level.
Orson Welles, Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire, Charles Chaplin and Greta Garbo were her most fervent admirers.
After the show, we stayed at Montjuic to see the Font Magica
Page ContenThe magic fountain of Montjuïc's (Font màgica de Montjuïc in Catalan) first performance was on May 19, 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. The designer Carles Buigas submitted his plans one year before the exhibition and many thought that the project was too ambitious to be created, let alone completed on time.
Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project and less than 1 year later the magic fountain was born.
The magic fountain is a spectacular display of colour, light, motion, music and water acrobatics - if you mix all these elements together in just the right combinations, you end up with pure magic!
JUST SPECTACULAR!!!
